Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 1/7/2026
At Sigma BarPrep, we believe your study habits are personal. We do not sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. Your performance data exists for one purpose: to help you pass the bar exam.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum amount of data required to provide our adaptive learning services.
- Account Information: Name, email address, and law school affiliation (required for login and account management).
- Performance Data: Quiz scores, time spent per question, specific answer choices (distractors), and active recall history. This data is essential for our algorithms to generate your personalized study schedule.
- Payment Information: We use Stripe for payment processing. We do not store your credit card details on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively for:
Algorithmic Adaptation
To calculate your "forgetting curve" and schedule review sessions via our spaced repetition engine.
Service Improvement
To analyze aggregate difficulty of questions (e.g., "70% of students missed Question A") to improve our content.
3. Who Sees Your Data?
Our "No Sell" Guarantee
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. You will not receive spam or ads based on your Sigma BarPrep data.
Institutional Access (Law Schools)
If your access to Sigma BarPrep was purchased by, or provided through, a third party (such as your Law School or a bar prep scholarship program), that institution is considered the account sponsor.
Specific Disclosure: In these cases, your Law School administration may have access to dashboards showing your progress, completion rates, and performance metrics. This allows them to identify students who may need additional academic support prior to the bar exam. If you paid for your account personally, your Law School cannot see your data.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We share data with trusted infrastructure providers solely to maintain the application's functionality:
- Stripe: Payment processing.
- Vercel & Cloudflare Pages: Cloud hosting, edge computing, and site reliability analytics.
- Web3Forms: Contact form submission handling.
5. Data Retention
We believe in data minimization. We retain your account and performance history for a period of 6 months after your subscription ends.
This retention period provides a safety window should you need to re-subscribe for a subsequent bar exam administration. After this 6-month period expires, your personal data and study history are permanently deleted from our servers.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location (including rights under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us.
If you have questions about this policy or need to verify your account's institutional sharing status, please contact us at our support page.
